The Brief Bio

John Biggs is a writer, editor, and entrepreneur with over two decades of experience at the intersection of technology, media, and early-stage innovation. He spent twenty years covering tech for Gizmodo, the New York Times, and TechCrunch, reporting on everything from hardware and 3D printing to blockchain infrastructure and digital finance. In recent years, his work has expanded into the psychedelic space, where he has written extensively on psilocybin, mental health, and the business models forming around therapeutic use and research. He is also a developer and builds tools to supercharge content creation and distribution with AI.

A founder and consultant, John has worked with startups across sectors including crypto, consumer electronics, and software platforms. His editorial background gives him a unique lens on how ideas spread and how early-stage projects can find product-market fit without hype. He is the author of eight books, including Bloggers Boot Camp, a practical guide to digital publishing, and Marie Antoinette’s Watch, a nonfiction account of horological obsession and craftsmanship.

I live in Brooklyn, NY and write about technology, security, gadgets, gear, wristwatches, and the Internet. After spending four years as an IT programmer, I switched gears and became a full-time journalist. My work has appeared in the New York Times, Laptop, PC Upgrade, Surge, Gizmodo, Men’s Health, InSync, Linux Journal, Popular Science and I’ve written five books including Marie Antoinette’s Watch,Black Hat: Misfits, Criminals, and Scammers in the Internet Age,and Bloggers Boot Camp.
